Dear Madam,

RE: Undergraduate Placement, Credit Risk Management Support Officer, London, 2017

I am writing in response to your advertisement, on your website, for an undergraduate Credit Risk Management Support Officer placement at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe (SMBCE) in London. An up-to-date CV is enclosed with this letter as requested.
I am inspired by the SMBC’s corporate social responsibility commitments to address issues surrounding the environment and the community. For example, in 2021, SMBCE London achieved the highest record of 90 staff participating in the annual run aimed to end homelessness. In my Enactus role, I shared this same vision of becoming the bridge to the future generations by contributing to a project aimed to empower teenagers with entrepreneurial skills. With the bank servicing 45% of the Fortune 500 companies, I am attracted to the bank’s leading worldwide reputation. I believe its vast global networks give me the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of various industries as well as the whole banking business.

I am currently studying a BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance at the University of Bath. I have chosen a credit risk management support placement because I believe I possess the right strengths and skills for it. Having always enjoyed the analysis and calculation required in my Corporate Finance modules, I believe I would enjoy both the quantitative and qualitative parts of the role. My course also equipped me with good knowledge of Excel which was part of my Business Computing module. During my accounting internship with Business Boardroom Solutions, I demonstrated an eagerness to learn and the motivation to produce quality work when given the responsibility to assist my manager in the review of a client’s account. I will bring this “can do” and proactive attitude to the bank. As secretary of the Bath Area Malaysian Student Association (BAMSA) this year, I have worked in teams of 11 to organise various events for its 120 members such as a Diwali Lunch and a Career Talk. As secretary, I also wrote minutes for meetings which demonstrated my strong written communication skills to write reports. Finally, I believe I am capable to work under pressure and manage my time efficiently, as the role requires, as I am currently able to manage my extra-curricular activities and my part-time job as an usher at the Arts Theatre on campus while maintaining my excellent grades.

An individual whom is highly motivated, enthusiastic and proactive, I believe SMBCE London would be a great place to further develop my career after receiving countless positive feedbacks given by students who have worked there. I deeply appreciate your taking the time to review my credentials and experiences.

Thank you for your consideration.

Yours sincerely,
