Morgan Stanley Spring Week Cover Letter
Dear Sir/Madam,
2014 Spring Insight Programme
I am writing to express my deep interest in Morgan Stanley’s 2021 spring week programme; one that I trust would provide me with the strongest foundation in Investment banking.
Following [name]’ talk during Morgan Stanley’s summer open day concerning his role within mergers and acquisition, I have become immersed within this sector. As a result, I now write weekly reports regarding M&A for the University’s Investment Fund, a student-run equity fund with £10,000 under management. My last article was regarding Facebook’s attempted £1.84Bn bid for Snapchat. Through my research, I became aware of Morgan Stanley’s proven track record of delivering successful IPO’s for Facebook as well as Google and LinkedIn. This information was compelling to me, especially since I use the services offered by these companies on a regular basis. I hope when working for Morgan Stanley in the future, I will get the opportunity to contribute to similar projects. In addition, last month I had the pleasure of being invited to Morgan Stanley’s Sales & Trading Afternoon Tea event where I was met with the friendliness and kindness of the likes of [name] and [name]. Having this exposure to the firm’s culture has really encouraged me to apply for the spring week, where I hope I could learn from similar individuals when undergoing work shadowing.
Participating in J.P. Morgan’s “Launching Leaders” along with Goldman Sachs’ “Exploring Investment Banking” provided me with an ample view of the dynamic industry. However, I would relish the opportunity to gain more in-depth knowledge about this area from Morgan Stanley’s perspective. A few days ago, as a selected member of SEO London’s first-year fast track programme, I had the opportunity to learn about Pape Nyack’s analyst role within Morgan Stanley. I hope the spring week will reveal other fantastic roles at Morgan Stanley. Ultimately, this will allow me to make a more informed decision of the area I would like to intern at, the following summer, which will only strengthen my performance in any future role.
In conclusion, any opportunity to connect with other like-minded undergraduates who share my passion and drive for finance would be vital, and would present an opportunity for future collaborations. The spring week will be a unique opportunity to use and develop my networking skills, of which I recently improved on whilst participating in the work skills programme at Lloyds Banking Group during the summer. Hopefully, this experience will help me to build on the contacts that I have already made in Morgan Stanley and I look forward to learning from the experiences of the employees.
Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
- [Name Redacted]
