Dear Sir/Madam,
Mid-Year 2015 Internship – Corporate Finance
I am a first year undergraduate studying BSc Economics at the London School of Economics and I am writing to apply for an opportunity to join KPMG’s Corporate Finance Mid-Year 2015 Internship. My availability will be from late June to late September 2015.
Speaking to my friends, <name> and <name>, on their previous internship experience with KPMGCorporate Finance last summer, I was impressed with the challenging and exciting work that they did, the depth of their learning experience and the opportunity to work alongside capable mentors on live deals such as Massimo Zanetti’s $85 million acquisition of Boncafe. KPMG stands out from the other firms as being the top mid-market M&A advisory firm in Singapore, specializing in the niche advisory of firms valued at 10-200 million SGD. KPMG differentiates itself from the competition by value adding clients through a thorough understanding of the client’s underlying business model and finding strategic investors and acquisitions. Furthermore, KPMG also have a friendly and positive collegiate atmosphere that I could see myself working in. Personally, I am attracted to this dynamic and challenging environment, the big picture thinking and the excitement in working on deals that have an appreciable impact on our client’s business. It is this client-centric approach coupled with the friendly, supportive environment and mentorship from the associates that attracted me to view KPMG as a good starting point for a career in Corporate Finance.
Prior to going to LSE for my studies, I did an internship with The Straits Network, the leading Southeast Asian expert network firm that connect buy-side investors, consultants, and business decision-makers with industry experts for primary research and due diligence. I was in charge of working with clients in reaching out to industry experts and arranging telephone consultations between the industry experts and the clients. This experience greatly improved my communication skills, and also my confidence in pitching to C-suite Executives. I am also confident in working well in a team. I was the Head of Operations for LSE’s Developing Leader’s Day Case Study Competition where I worked together with 3 different functional teams in pitching for sponsorship, organizing panel discussion and led a team of 5 for operations on the competition day itself.
I have attached my CV for your reference, but beyond what is on paper, I am a cheerful, down to earth person who always put in my best effort to ensure that tasks assigned to me are completed with quality.
Thank you for your time, and look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Yours Faithfully,
<Name Redacted>
