Dear Sirs,

My decision to pursue a career in the Investment Banking Division was reaffirmed after working as an Investment Banking Division Summer Analyst at Citigroup. It has been particularly clear after building various financial models and being heavily involved in the management presentation of a sell-side M&A deal that M&A is the place where I will thrive.

Despite the challenging time, Goldman Sachs maintains a unique position in the investment banking landscape. With a strong international presence, it is one of the few that can lead stable operations despite a turbulent political climate. After being invited to your London offices for the SEO Master Class and attending a presentation held by <Insert GS Employee name>, I was also pleasantly surprised by the supportive atmosphere and teamwork culture of the firm. I believe that a company with such culture is where I will perform at my best.

A successful banker must know and truly understand the basics of accounting. By continuously performing quantitative data analysis at Metrix Accountancy, I have acquired skills involved in a banker’s daily workflow such as analysing the financial performance of a business. I also developed the ability to form good relationships with clients when accompanying the director of my firm to client meetings and interacting with senior management.

The SEO Academy allows me to have exclusive training and insight from various firms as well as guidance by specialist training company, Training the Street. Sessions on how to value businesses, interpreting financial data and understanding the different metrics and multiples used in the industry were especially interesting giving me the best possible preparation.

In addition to being a member of the LSE Finance and Investment societies, I am a keen polo player due to my naturally competitive nature. I strive to develop my abilities to adapt to unpredictable situations and make proper decisions under considerable pressure, as well as efficiently work in a team.

I look forward to embarking on a career in Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs. I welcome an opportunity to present my candidacy to you in person.

Yours faithfully,
