Citi Summer Associate Program Cover Letter
Dear Graduate Recruitment,
I am <name redacted>, a second year Economics Student at University College London. I am writing to express my interest in the Summer Associate program with Citi Corporate Sales and Structuring.
I am currently pursing my dream of working in Corporate Finance. To succeed in the industry, it is necessary for me to develop the skills needed and gain knowledge and insight into the industry. Citibank’s internship program places emphasis on providing interns with the right tools and support that they need. I feel that this internship would be very beneficial before embarking on a professional career in the financial industry. With this opportunity, given my strong background in economics, I am confident that I will be able to combine my academic prowess and my inner desire to succeed to make the most out of this work experience.
Prior to my pursuit of Corporate Finance, I have also pursued other aspects of banking. I have previously had a Financial Advisory Services internship in Deloitte Malaysia. I worked with a team of analysts and in the process I contributed in researching, producing industrial reports, and analysing financial statements to build a client’s proposal. I also gained experience in financial modelling as part of the internship. It was exciting analysing a firm’s value based on future free cash flows and its peers. I am very keen on obtaining further exposure to the dealings and transactions of Citibank’s clients. Throughout this process, I have learnt that finance is the heart of any business. I feel that the summer associate program would be the best platform to learn more about companies and industries of different capital structures and how to offer solutions to their problems.
I consider myself to be a well-rounded individual that strives within a team environment. I am able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a steep learning curve. I led a team of peers in the UIBS M&A Challenge organised in London. I was deeply involved in the pitching process, consolidation of the overall pitch-book, and the building of financial models. Through this, I improved my time management skills and leadership skills as well as developed essential public speaking skills. Additionally, my outstanding academic achievements are an indication of my determination and enthusiasm for learning.
As an organization of talented and intelligent individuals that value diversity and energy, I believe Citibank is the optimum platform for me to develop my talents and pursue my career aspirations. I look forward to having a chance to be a part of Citi Summer Associate Program.
